Any ideas on making these look better?
Hello all, when I bought my SA, it had these wheels on it. In the rear there was also a 1 3/4" spacer. It served only to space the wheel further out. I did not like the look.
I installed the factory waffles. These wheels look familiar, but I am not sure I like them as is. The black is chipped and the silver part has some oxidation. I can restore them, but I was wondering what combo would look good.
A friend suggested gold centers, with a silver outer lip ( basically swap the black for gold). I thought that may look bad on a silver car, but he says no.
They are the 4x110 pattern, so I can just leave the spacers out.
Any thoughts would be great
Thank you
Rich

It's a matter of taste, opinions will vary. I think Gold webbing would look good on Red, Black, White, Blue or Yel exterior cars, but a little out of place on silver. (too blingy?) Silver webs with a polished lip might be ok or a fresh semi gloss black. Little things like pin stripes on the body can really make differences too.

polish the lip, and repaint the center, and they will look great. center color is up to you, but black, or maybe a dark grey would look best, imo

Thanks for the ideas. I think a "storm grey" might look real nice. They have real new Toyo's on them date coded to late 2013 so they are still fine to use.
If I could find the dark grey metallic like is used on the SA window trim, then that may look good. Again, I use my lathe to spin the wheel and polish it easily. I was considering taking a skim cut off the polished area, with a fast feed and get that shiny
machined look.
Either way, thanks for the good ideas. That's what is so good about the 7 community. Someone here has an answer and is not reluctant to share it!!!
Thanks again

Most auto part stores carry various wheel paint colors. There are metallic greys close to SA trim. Duplicolor, VHT, Rustoleum are just three manufactures. I like the gunmetal grey suggestion, it would accent Sunbeam Silver very nicely. You'll need a lot of RPM and probablly coolant to get the "machined look" your after. If your lathe lacks either of those, increasingly finer grades of emery paper by hand followed by a buffing wheel in a die grinder with your rim chucked up and spinning works well to get a chrome finished look. You'll also want to experiment with some neverdull and simichrome polish.

Use your car as a lathe! Jack the back up and set the fast idle at 2500 rpm in 1st. The wheel(s) will spin. Just hold the sandpaper and compound in place and let the engine turn the wheels. FYI youll want a box fan blowing into the radiator with the hood up to keep it cool and make sure its well ventilated from fumes.
