The SSRs I have, the 2 shell halves are welded together, no sealer needed. The Epsilons I have are seperate and I use slicone to seal them. If you paint them, use an automotive quality paint. I powdercoat mine.

I haven't seen any torque specs. I use blue Locktite and torque them to 20-25 lb/ft.

If the shell is 2 seperate pieces, put the silicone between the halves, bolt together, then run a bead on the inside of the rim over the seam. Surgaces must be clean for the silicone to bond and seal. If you want your centers powdercoated or painted correctly, PM me.

Spend some time masking them off well. It would be alot easier. And if anything gets on the lip just sand it down. Unless you have a show car I see no problem with this.

Sorry, but the last thing he wants to do is sand down a polished rim. It takes a great deal of work to bring the finish back. Easiest method is to remove the centers, prep/paint, then bolt the centers back on. It is possible with those rims to mask and paint without removing the centers, much less work and less chance of air leaks if they are true 3 piece rims.

i think your on the right path trochoid. originally the rims came chrome from SSR. but you know japan chrome dont last peelled right off on the centers. so i think the pest way is to remove the centers and paint. im trying to do the best job i can since this rims are really hard to find and expensive. They're gonna be my meet and greet rims not daily rollers because they are 18's. is there a how to??? any where on this forum.

you dont sand it down with like 100 grit. You use like 1000, thats not going to ruin thge polish, and you only do that if it does get on the lip.

Make sure you unmount the tires. I would get them powder coated instead of painted. Powder coating is less likely to chip.

Sorry, but even 1000 grit wet /dry will scratch the **** out of a polished finish. When I do wheels, I sand to at least 2000 grit, then start polishing. When color sanding a paint finish, one works up to 2000 grit wet/dry paper, with lots of water and soap, then there are at least 3 stages of progressively finer polish to remove the sanding scratches. Even then the paint finish isn't as smooth as chrome or polished aluminum.
