anti-freeze coming through the floorboards?

I'm noticing a huge amount of anti-freeze just showing up on my passanger side carpet (by where your feet go), it started hella small like 1 week ago, but now theres more then enough just there to make my car just smell, and look nasty, I can't pull the seat out to lift the carpet or anything (the back left bolt is oddly placed... I can't get to it with anything easily)

Does anyone know where this anti-freeze may be coming from? or how to fix it. Everyday I go out there, and I have to lay a towel down to soak it up, its insane.

It's coming from your heater core.
It's unusual for the heater core to leak - it looks and is built just like a tiny radiator.
But the hoses that connect to it are probably old and gummy, and this is why you're leaking.

It's truely a bitch to get to this thing! But it should'nt cost you much in parts.

I'd say your heater core is leaking.

EDIT: Damn sterling, you got that posted like 2 seconds before me!

Yes...very bad. Its your heatercore leaking. Probably a hose. Never had to dig one out but you will have get in there and find it. This will rust your floor boards, mold carpet, and destroy your car quickly. The Haynes manual may help.

Good luck

you have a bad heater core! the part may be 50$ or so, but if you pay someone to replace it its gonna cost some big bucks. its not had to do, just time consuming....if you have a haynes and know how to turn a wrench, you can do it!

i actually think i have the same thing happening, i just thought rain was comming in, but it had a green tint. I find putting the heater switch to cold helps to slow it

I'll bet alot of people have a small leak going on long before they ever notice it.
I finally noticed mine on my first Rx-7, and by that time, significant rust had started.

if you can live without heat
get an union for the hoses that are going into and out of the firewall

that will keep it from leaking till you fix it

I suppose it's got anticorrosion **** in it, but I mix mine with water in the winter, and in the summer I use straight distilled water.

Try some stop leak, that stuff works pretty well, and if it is just i minor leak in a tube or pipe, it should be a pretty good temporary fix

It's not necessarily the heater core. The heater tap (valve that controls amount of coolant going to core) is located on that side of the car and will leak like a bitch when the seal gets worn out. It happened to me. It should be the first thing you check before you go ripping your dash apart.

Theres a hose that goes out through the firewall, its not connected to anything, I'm trying to find the section in the haynes manual, but I havent had any luck, if anyone has the chapter or page that would help, then that would be cool

the hole that goes through the firewall has no seal either, but I'm fixing that tomarrow.

I'm lost on what to do, the foot room in the car sucks, so its hard to get a real good view of everything

The small drain hose if for removing condensation from the AC unit, has nothing to do with the coolant leak in your car.

The heater core has 2 fitting that go thru the firewall and connect to rubber hoses via clamps, so how could it be a loose hose clamp if leaking inside the car?

You will need to replace the heater core or have it repaired. It a fun job to do, I pull the passenger seat and work on my back, takes an afternoon to complete.
