Another SE Idle question.
Yes I have searched, but have not found an exact match to my problem.
The car: 85 SE all original, 80,000 km's on stock motor.
The idle problem I have is intermittent. The car will idle normally about 75% of the time and drives 100%, gas consumption is also good. Plugs, cap and wires are new.
25% of the time the car will idle at about 2k (when clutch depressed), if I release the clutch and sit in neutral the engine will go into a cycle bouncing between 1k and 2 k. (this is embarrassing when sitting at a light, hopefully it never happens beside a cop!) It sounds like I'm revving the engine like some street racer.
Also when at low speeds the car can lurch forward as the idle increases, I also need to back off on the throttle sometimes even when on the highway. So I know it is not just happening at idle.
Other than that the car runs perfect.
TPS?
Dirty Injectors?
Leak in the Throttle body?
I have read that if the throttle body is getting to much air the idle can cycle like I have described, I have also read about the TPS sensor. I don't think my injectors are dirty.
What about Sea foam, do you think that is worth a try first?

The surging I believe, can be treated by a good throttle body cleaning. The arms that hold the plate open or closed can get dirty and screw up the signal. I always clean everything around there with fuel injector spray with lubricants. Let us know what works for ya.
