Another dumb question...but
Okay, so how far off would 2nd generation taillights be from fitting? obviously i'd have to take out the black insert in the center but i was looking at pictures and it looks like they might have a chance of fitting in there... anyway i just need to replace the ones i have, the lenses are cracked and if i'm going to put new ones in i might as well improve the looks on them as well.

let's see...
they're the wrong height
they're the wrong width
they're vertical, instead of slanted forward
in short, they won't fit a 1st gen without so much modification you may as well use Miata lights.

Can't learn without asking questiong...right? anyone know about the 90-93 acura integra tail lights? those look like they could fit as well... maybe "altezzas" with the carbon fibre backing....those would look good on a first gen imo
edit: i just realized the 2g taillights were vertical... i never really looked at a 2g i just saw the taillights on ebay and though i'd ask about them fitting.

lol, c'mon you can't tell me the carbon fibre altezzas wouldn't look better than the stock ones... they're nice and sporty looking lights, i'm not talking about the chrome altezzas, those look like ****.

That air dam is junk, it's cracked and pitted all over... i've got alot of glassing and body filler work to do on the ******' thing here is a pic of the closest thing i can find to what i'm talking about the kind i want... the lights are just perfect circles not the half and half ****...but that's the basic idea of what i want
edit: will go good with the car when i repaint it black and get all the body molding and goodies finished imo

Man why would any one insult an RX7 by putting tail lights from a glorified Honda Civic (AKA acura integra) on an RX7. Thats just not right...
I mean sure the lights look sharp, but its just the principal of what they are intended to be installed on. But you know I am not sure if its the Honda/Acuras I hate or if its the drivers and their dumb *** I rule the world attitude. any way enough ranting.
Btw this is just IMHO

Personally i like acuras... i'm considering buying one as a daily driver. the 90-93 ones are very appealing to me, they're no sports car but a nice sedan that i'd love having for a daily driver to take people around and get good gas milage doing it...besides they aren't acura lights, some company is making them so they fit an acura but have nothing to do with the car company i just want to know if they'll fit.

Ive seen around here a 1st gen with 2nd gen lights in it.. its the angle which didnt make it look so good and not enough moulding done to it...also Supra taillights to another 1st gen. Ive seen Supra taillights on too many cars as is and not a big fan at all of using globs of Bondo to make things fit. Those lights by Red Line Zone that you showed look good..on a 1st gen..hmmmm, it is your car...why not just find another original set?

Well, here's a better visual image... i'm putting mariah mode 1 fender flares on my car... an 80s mustang GT rear bumper and mariah side skirts...MIGHT try to make blitz side skirts fit... but i want the rest of the car to look sleek, i'm painting it competely black. that's why those lights appeal to me, i can see them on my car when it's finished.

Think of all the money you could spend on performance mods instead. When you're driving you only see the inside of the car anyways. It could look like ****, but if it's fast it'll gain respect, and so will you.

Says the man with the Cartech turbo FB and widebody kit .
Actually, my exact thoughts follow along with your thinking man. When I drove an 85 GSL, I couldnt stand it because the interior was ****. The body was 98% perfect with a few door dings here and there. The car looked good from the outside, but it was **** on the inside and I couldnt stand it. Now I drive my 83 GSL with the nicest interior out of all 4 RX-7s that I have, and the body isnt much to look at. I like it so much better this way. It just makes me comfortable when I drive rather than trying to impress everyone else with what it looks like on the outside. Dont get me wrong, I plan on fixing up the outside as I am a perfectionist and the car is an ongoing project, but at least it looks good to me and my passengers when were inside. Theyre not constantly reminded what a POS looking car theyre in, lol . The best part is keeping up with those tricked out spoilerized and body kit'd 5.0's and ricers out there in my POS looking 7 .

I want looks and performance... i mean, i see the outside of my car as much as the inside. my interior looks like **** but i don't mind, i've got missing pieces in my interior food crumbs everywhere, soda bottles, ect, i'm the opposite of the people on this board i guess. I'm also in an import car club and they hate having a car that looks as bad as mine in their club they only keep me in because i'm faster than all of their cars, that and i'm good friends with all of them... they're not going to ditch out on me. i don't know i guess i'm the opposite of a typical 1st gen owner, guess i should have bought a honda

i feel for you man the typical forum goer here is soo prejiduce against any mod to the first gen that were not origionally conceived in the eightys that it is rediculous. I thought about those tailights myself. the dimensions are just about right.
The third gen lights posted about look like hell and the rearend in general needs help. I don't see any issues with making the car "yours" with whatever mods you see necessary. btw what does the spoiler look like?
