Another Car won't Start

Alright so I'm trying to help one of my friends with his 1st gen rx7. The car is parked and wasn't used for a couple of days. He goes to turn on the car and ot didn't start. He knew his alternator was going out so he put in a new one and fresh battery. The car cranks but doesn't turn over, then he checked the oil and learned that there was nothing (He didn't know rotarys burn oil). So he put in oil and the car won't start still. I Think the motor is done for like something is stuck is my opinion. What do you guys think? And to think I warned him that he should check his oil every couple of days.

If he's lucky, then its just flooded. Grab a can of Seafoam from your local parts store, and dump an ounce or two down the small barrels of the carb. Then try it again. That will usually do it....

Explain what you mean that the engine won't turn over. Does it act like it's locked/frozen and can't turn, or the that the starter isn't turning it over?

Grab the pulley on the front bottom of the engine. See if you can rotate the engine by hand. It should be fairly hard to do, but you should be able to get it to rotate with a little effort. If not, remove the spark plugs and try it again.

Post back with the results and we'll go from there...

Oh yeah, make sure that the car is in nuetral when you do this...

You're still not being totally clear...

When the key is turned, does the engine sound like it's turning?

Try this:
Have someone watch the engine.
Have someone else turn the key.
Do the belts and pulleys and fan and everything spin around?

If so, check the FAQ for my book thread. It explains quite a lot about starting issues.
It was supposed to be "End all for no start threads."

This was typed back when I was 18 and I still use the same process all the time. (I'm 26 now.) I didn't have much experience then, so it's written for entry level people, that's why it's so long. If you can identify parts you can follow the problem solving procedure.
