Another Air Pump Thread

I found the FAQ at mazspeed for removing the airpump/rats nest on a 12a, but I couldn't find much about it on a SE. I want to leave the rats nest alone, just take off the air pump.

Fixing other things I took my Air Pump off, and since it looks like a pain to put back on, I was thinking about just leaving it off.
So on a 84 SE what do I need to block off/change to remove the air pump? Everything else is stock.

Just take the pump off and make a block off plate. I think you can also take the 2 selonoids off off the fire wall as well. You will never pass emissions again.

Do you have cats still on the car? Basically, you can do just like the 12A cars.

- Remove air pump
- Remove and block off ACV
- Remove ACV silencer (it is under the air filter box)
- you can remove the blue and grey solenoids on firewall (switching and relief solenoid). You may need some vacuum caps
- you should cap off the nipple on the air box where the air pump connected too. Otherwise your enigne will pull in some unfiltered air.

That is pretty much it. Leave the tube that goes from the back of the intake manifold connected to the main cat/presilencer. You will need it so the 5/6 ports will still work. You may need to add a dual belt alt pulley to keep the waterpump from slipping at higher rpm.

If you still have/need working cats, put the air pump back on and leave it be. The air pump isn't that hard to put on. It can be a little tricky getting the spacer back in and lined up, but it isn't that bad.

Yeah still have the cats.
I want to ditch them for a RB full system but I can't afford it, so thats on the back burner.
I don't have to pass emissions, but I'll just put it back on if it isn't that tough.
