Alternator Upgrade...

If I install an alternator from a different car, do I use the pulley that is on the new alternator or do I put the pulley from the old alternator onto it? my question is mainly about the pulleys size. I don't want to fry the alternator. If it will help, My car is a completly stock '84 GS.

I believe if you search you will find your answer. There was a thread on this about a month or so ago.
