Alternator Ground

How is the alternator grounded? There is a jumper wire just down from the plastic connector into the alternator on the thicker gauged black with a white stripe. Is this supposed to ground?

Thanks

The alt is grounded through its body (at pivot bolt/ears and at adjusting bolt).
