Alternative for HTR 200s?!
If I actually autox'd my SA I would consider the higher end tires, but it's just my daily driver for the summer. I want some good ones I can whip around in without the sloppy sidewall flex of my current 205's. Unless there are some 205's with less flex, I believe I will stick with the stock 185's. At least until they are no longer available.
Mazda put some thought into what a 5 1/2" rim could handle. They came up with the right size and it ain't 205. 185 will hold you fine. IMPO
205/13 sumis all around and no complaints. I bought a spare set at the time but I know the clock is running. Suspect we will looking to the Chinese to bail us out. Again. Gad.

I've used the HTR200s on stock rims in 215/50/13 size with great success. The performance improvement from the 205 was noticeable. Did they flex? Yep. But did they also grip like crazy? Also Yep.
Moving the 215s to a 8" wide wheel did improve things noticeably, but you can definitely run them on the stock rims...
