BlastinSideWays yeah you made a good point about the rotary advantage is actually the placement of the motor, its a Mid Front Engine and thats definately a good benefit since it helps keep the weight more towards the cars center of gravity.
As for V8's being heavy? SO WHAT! Thats what V'8s are good for TOW/TORQUE...The engine also needs another gear ratio then a Rx-7 so that is does not blow engines over revving...I know one guy who has a 1985 Rx-7 with a 350 motor in it, Its really nice looking and he has his motor actually placed guess where? Behind his front suspension like a rotary...Its a real nice job looks clean I rather have a rotary but i wouldnt dog his car. For the money invested in hes really got a clean ride.

I got to tell you when I first wrote this post I was Mad that people would lie about handling and how it would effect my cars. I am new here and was reading a lot of old Archives on the RX7club like I was told to do, FAQ That needs to be in there. Like how heavy will my car be in the front if I change to a V8. Or a little V8scetion! I have two shells and 2 V8 motors. The one I just got will be my daily river. The other for Drag racing for me and my Girlfriend.

Hey I love the Rx7. I hate people ******* them for being a big pig if there a V8 in them.
It’s there all out lie.
Unfortunately, the lie is true for 1stgens as racers have found out. What do you have besides words and ideas to show otherwise?

Hell, we're still waiting for any weight numbers which seem to have been forgotten....

who cares if theres not that much more weight, it's an rx7 and it's an rx7 because it has a rotary engine. You take that out and you might as well go get a chevette.

The ls1 is an aluminum block, with aluminum heads and alot of lightweight accesories. There are alot of porsche guys putting them in smaller older porsches, with an adapter. There is no comparison when installed, I have been in a porsche 914 that had a built 350(actually a stroked 383) and weighed about 2200lbs it was scary fast, you can't even use 1st gear. I just happen to have a car that v8 guys are really gonna hate on. v8 guys don't like vw bugs and rotaries. I have both and in one package.

My old boss had a 72' 911 with a 383 stroker and it was scary fast like you said. You get on 3rd gear in a straight line and it pulls hard but also starts ripping it up. They don't like rotary bugs cause they haul ***. I had one with a worked flat four 130hp and the front would almost come off the ground. No v8 camaro /corvette ever touched it. It had fiberglass fenders, couldn't weight more than 1400lbs.

Gerbraldy yup i would not have taken the Rotary out! in my personal opinion I would have done the Opposite...My friend is into MUSTANGS big TIME! Turbo charging them and stuff and they are fast! He likes my car so much now he wants to do the V8 conversion on a first gen, I on the other hand will put a 13b or 20b in a MUSTANG but not till im done with my 7...
