I think you should start selling a copy of the original Imsa design!
I have been trying to find one forever. I believe it to be the best looking piece but impossible to get.
Mazdatrix and Erebuni are close but the IMSA one is perfect.
it be easier to make a mold from a existing piece

bah... make a blitz front end like 0 16 bar code boy has..... I bet he would appriciate it...
but seriously... that thing is kinda funky looking... but if you could bring it down.. and do somthing like an adjustable spoiler on the bottom.... might look alot better... and have LOTS of function!

Prosthetic head.
My idea...
This is pretty crude and quickly done, but...
Is something this at least somewhat near to what people want?

Sorry, I have to say that I don't like it. It totally ruins the smooth lines of the FB and makes the car more box like. Your front end has way to many hard cut lines/corners which are not flowing at all.
That's my 2cents (although I do applaude your efforts!)

I think that these air dams won't appeal to the masses, for these reasons....
-air dam comes too close to the ground compared to the sides and rear of car. (you'd need side skirts to make it flow, and a rear bumper)
-Openings are too big and you'll see alot of ugly **** back there. (refer to any honda with a combat front bumper)
-what happens with the "actual bumper" under the shell. The rotorhead design won't allow for that, because attaches to the piece in between the lights. Making the rx7 completely unsafe, you couldn't drive in on the street or on a track.
-Most people want an updated look as I've noticed being a part of this website. And you can see how crazy people are about that "purple beast".
A new air dam design is very welcome but I believe that these are some factors to consider. Unless you are just gonna build it for yourself in which case you shouldn't care what other people think, do whatever you want.

You still have a bumper, but inside a rounded, flexible front end instead of jutting out a few inches from the header panel, then creating lifting surfaces under the bumper as the stock one does. Anyone following my posts on bumpers, body bracing, and headlights knows that I think safety first.

Attached the type of spoiler for the older Z's that I was thinking about. Might work well on a 7, might not. You could keep it black and subtle so that it wouldn't detract much from the original look and styling.
Oh yeah, I want those panasports

I like something that keeps something similar the the stock lines on the front, but also lowers the front edge, maybe incorperates fog lights, as well as opening the front more for cooling. I cant really draw, but Im going to put up a couple pictures as to what Im thinking...
~T.J.
Heres what I (quickly) drew in. Maybe you can get the idea?

I think I was shooting for something similar to a kit made by Select Maz, only more subtle and stock looking. This is the kit that was my "inspiration":
The only reason I dont really like the Select Maz kit is because I like the way the stock front runs back under the car SMOOTHLY. The Select Maz kit seems too boxy for the front or something. I think that if they had dropped the front back under the bumper more like the stock look a little, and rounded it out dome more rather than having the jagged looking boxy lines, that it would be much better. Oh well, thats all just IMO anyway .
~T.J.
PS - Please dont use the image source on the picture files, it makes my bandwith usage fly through the roof...So, you just have to click the links .
EDIT: I think what Im shooting for is that additional piece you can get from VB thats just a wedge shaped thing you add onto the stock bumper, only I want it one piece and more smooth looking.

Also, for those of you with a VB catalog, I was talking about the xenon ureflex air dam. Its part number 95-828. I wish I could find a picture of it online somewhere...
~T.J.
EDIT: Ok, heres a picture of the air dam Im talking about. Maybe you can use your imagination as to what it looks like on the car. I want something like this on the front (with fog light holes?) and all once piece rather than an add on.
