air pump for port actuators?
There's a 2nd gen guru near here that suggested that the best way to get those 5th and 6th port actuators working are to hook them up with a MSD, a 4000 RPM pill, and a 12v 4psi air pump.
Anyone done this before? The other stuffs easy, but where to find a pump?

The easy way to do this is to use the stock air pump. That is if you removed the cat and have with a header and strait pipe back to the muffler.
Some people argue its a drag on the engine to use the air pump, but most of the air is pumped right into the air causing very, very little drag. Slightly more interia to spin, but compare it with the belt off, and you will see no notible difference.
Anyway, on my '88 SE I did this with the ACV blocked and ran a hose from the air pump to a metal ball-type valve and before the valve route in a small tube somehow to the actuators. Then have a friend rev the engine to 4000rpm and adjust the ball valve till the actuators start to open fully. Then rev it a few times to be sure its consicent. After the ball valve, you can either run a hose into the air or into the stock air siliencer below the air cleaner so it won't sound like a air compressor under the hood whenever you rev it.

Well, I got the stock manifold with a Rb cat, so I guess that won't work? Anyway, I think I have a pump in my garage that goes into a piece of medical equipment that I service....
