Air pump installation
Here's the problem, I'm trying to install the OEM airpump in our 85 GSL 12A. It has the Racebeat intake/carb and the airpump hits up against the intake manifold not allowing full adjustment. I need this pump installed to pass AZ smog. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't think that the racing beat intake/carb can be used with the airpump.
How about this, you give me your RB stuff, and I will give you all the things you need to pass your emissions test.

You might pass the visual test by bolting the pump back on,but theres no garuantee youll pass the sniff test without the ACV to control and regulate the air pump's output. The ACV sends the air to the exhaust ports, air cleaner or main cat depending on operating conditions.Full time air from the pump to the main cat can lead to burning your car down, or at least melting down the cat.
BTW,the ACV bolts to the stock intake manifold.......

It's failing the sniff test also so it must work. The previous owner butchered this thing with how he installed the RB stuff so I'm never sure what I need to do next. My thinking is to go back stock. Someone from CA or AZ has had the clevernesss to figure a way to get it to pass.

This is why I wonder about the wisdom in removing the rat nest. Many states that do not have the sniff test yet might do so later. The car will likely be less valuable without the proper stuff to be legal. OR at least it just might be desireable by a smaller group - that affects the value though, doesn't it.
That being said, I just removed the upper and lower intake on an 84 13 B . Holy mackeral! Plenty of hoses! I guess there are some cases where it can be a benefit. Different circumstances will help one make that decision.
