air pump?

air pump?

i have an 85 gslse, and my friend said i could take the air pump off. hes says it gives you better emissions but other than that iy dosent really do anything. can i take it off? and will it increase my power alittle bit?

Your friend is full of it. Removing the air pump will increase emissions and eventually destroy the cat. Performance gain is minimal a best.

I think he meant to say his friend said the airppump's job is to give him better emissions, but it's removable? Either way, I would agree, if you still have your cat, I wouldn't remove it.

If you have headers, you can remove it, otherwise don't as it supplies air to the catalytic converters. Without it the converters can plug.

And if you do remove it, you have to be careful of your belt tensions, unless you make mods.
