air in the fuel line
lots and lots of air.
tried to do a search on this, but the function wouldn't work.
In the window from the fuel line, I can see I am getting a ton of air, looks more like beer than gas. Man is it ugly when it happens. Car stalls out won't get above 3kRPM. I can fix it by messing with the throttle on the carb and wiggling the fuel line, but only temporarily, and that's not real convenient for highway driving!
Could this be because she sat around for a long time with so little gas in her? Or rust in the tank? What's the best way to bleed it out?
I want to drive her, and this is way harshing on my mellow

well air in fuel lines mean that either
A: your fuel pickup has broken or is somehow picking up air
B: somewhere in your feul lines you have a leak thats letting in air.
If its been sitting for a long time i would drain the tank, fluch it out, and replace the hoses under the car and in the engine bay.
Then you can disconnect the carb, put the end of the hose in an empty bottle and get the fuel pump going to clean out any air thats in there
If it still has issues id see a mechanic

thanks James
this sounds a little complex. I'm not really supposed to work on my car at all in my apartment's parking lot. I've just been getting away with it because the grounds crew keeps stopping by to see how it's going!
Any idea on what Firestone or someone would charge to do this?

I think the problem may have worked itself out. I just took her out and had one near stall, but stopped, reved the throttle while wiggling the fuel line. Problem may have been that the old gas hadn't yet really mixed with the new gas. I know she needs a new tank. Could have been some water in it. Now she's driving fine.
Wait a minute, did I say "fine"? **** that, she's driving like a bat out of hell.
