The airdam on my SE was built by Kamei which may be the same or very similiar to that offered by VB. This is an FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) composition which is both flexible and also very well designed to absorb impacts without too much damage. It will not stand up to repeated slamming against parking blocks, but my wife has managed to ding a few curbs without any serious damage to it.
Also, I've added a Kydex lower 'wind split' to the bottom of the airdam on my car to make it more resilient to impacts, plus, I like the look of a flat bottom lip on airdams. HTH,

Does it mount to the valance, or the lower part of the bumper. I am hoping to get away without replaceing the valance if possible.
Thanks,

Click on my signature line pictures to see some larger pics of the airdamn - none taken specifically to show the airdam, however.
It mounts to the valance in the front (to the bumper skin, actually), and then has 2 bolts that go through the stock fender attachment just on the front edge of the wheelwell at it's lowest point. These attachments actually make the airdamn mount between the valance panel and the outter fender, which allows for concealed bolt mounting (for looks), and creates a strong mounting system to be sure it is adequately supported.
In all, there are 6 bolts holding in place along the top edge of the airdam, and I installed 4 additional kydex (plastic) supports at the base of the airdam inlet which mount to the stock valance cross-piece. These keep the front inlet from 'flapping' at high speeds, and also makes it much stronger along the front edge.
The kydex strips along the bottom are about 1.5" in width and are just pop-riveted to the bottom flats on the airdam molding. They have curved the FRP mold here to make for a smooth curvature at the bottom of the airdam, and I pop riveted the plastic strips to this which keeps them straight and parallel to the ground. Mostly, it's so that if it gets run up too close to a curb, the pop rivets will strip off the plastic strips, leaving the airdam undamaged.
As mentioned, my wife drives this car from time to time, so I built some 'defenses' to keep me from having to replace the airdam frequently - I don't want the hassle, or the cost of repainting a new airdam to match the rest of the car.
I paid $200 for it to replace the first one I had (which was $150 or so. Definitely a Kamei design, but I don't know if they still import under that name. Looks almost identical to the VB model that's in the first picture at the top of this page. HTH,

The side skirts are towards the bottom. I really like this kit, I just wish it came in something more durable than fiberglass. Anyways, check it out. I really like it and my car gets a lot of compliments. Hope I helped. Later.
P.S. the rear valence (sp) is located in the wings and spoilers section along with the spoiler that is on that car. Those are also the same parts that are on my FB.
P.P.S. or P.S.S. (which ever it is) Now that I look at that picture, that looks like the wheels I have too. O_o Heh. What a kawinkidink. The exterior of that FB looks exactly like mine. Well, I can garuntee that isn't mine, but it does give you an idea of what mine looks like.
