Aftermarket Radiator?
Does anyone make a aftermarket radiator for fb's? I'm building a SCCA IT car and my radiator is pretty beat up. Should I just get another stock one or is there a better option out there?

I got one from radiators.com before. The one in my wifes 96 ford escort had started leaking. Price was very competative. I think I only found one other place who had one for cheaper, and that was after I already made my order. Just a note: After market radiators are made for use in cars with auto or manual trannys. If you have a manual, there will be a plug that you will need to install in the port where the lines from a auto tranny would hook up. The port fitting is brass seated in plastic. If you tighten up the plug too tight, you will unseat the fitting and it will leak. Ask me how I know? If this happens, you can RTV over the whole fitting to stop the leak.

. Good customer service too
. I had originally ordered the wrong one by accident, and they sent me the right one completly on the honor system that I would return the other one

An Australian company - www.pwr.com.au - make high performance aluminium radiators.
They'll cool better than an OEM replacement and look much better. The only drawback would be the cost. You can get a matching oil cooler and intercooler as well if you want.

Well I expect to pay more for an aftermarket radiator. Which is fine because I want the best cooling as this is a racecar and I will be running the **** out of the motor.
Thanks for the info. Oh and I didnt see a listing for our cars on the PWR site. Unless I missed it.

spoolin looks like a good deal. They don't list a radiator for a 83' RX7. But they have them for 85's with 1.3L (aka 13b). Would this work on my 83' 12a?
Also spoolin where did you find the 3 row radiator. They list only the 1 row for the first gen. If you could tell me which radiator you got it would be great!

Okay, someone with more money than me, try my idea... Well, it's not my idea, but the same request was made of me. (Orignial conciever didn't have the funds and neither do I... I think it was someone on the www.MazSpeed.com forum.)
Anyhow.. You need two radiators from different year RX-7's...
One short thick kind from a 1979-1982, and one tall thin kinda from a 1983-1985...
The early one is thick enough that a 3 row core can be fit into, the Later one has larger surface area, but is too thin and can only fit the standard 2 row core in it's end tanks.
Goto a radaitor shop and tell them to keep the end tanks off the early radiator, and the mounting brackets off the later radiator. Throw everything else out. Tell them to recore the radiator so it's the same height as the later radiator, but use a 3 row core, aluminium if possible...
See how that works. Might require an electric fan, but I doubt it. In theory, you have a tall style three row radiator.

I believe that SDJ Motorsports www.sdjmotorsports.com sells an aluminum racing radiator that has the same external demensions as a stock 1st gen radiator, so it bolts in without the need of fabrication.
