aftermarket gauge, stock sender?

i have a autometer water temp gauge. i took the stock sender out, and the autometer one is too big for the stock location. i dont really want to put it in the water pump ( i like the choke in the winter). is it possible for me to use the stock sender? the only reason i would see it not working was if it ran on different resistances. any suggestions?

nevermind, i got my digital volt meter, and they dont match up

the autometer one was 1320 amps of resistance at room temp

the stock was 510

Suggestions?

Yea, use the choke switch location. Just jump the 2 wires at the plug when you un plug it and remove the switch. This will keep the magnet on all the time. Only problem is that the choke will never pop back in automatically, youll have to push it in.

kick *** man. now do you know what size that sender's thread is? will the autometer one fit it, or do i need to drill and tap?

i dont care about the choke never going in, a matter of fact, that will help in the winter when the choke pops out and the car still wants to stall.
