Aftermarket Fuel Level Gauge?

Did a search, couldnt find anything useful.

So has anyone done an aftermarket fuel level guage? Im going to be running a custom dash and need to know what resistance the stock guage has? (so i can calibrate my aftermarket one if need be.)

I checked a while back. The one thing I remember is that the SA was different than an 1985 FB. I got the info from the FSMs. I do not think there was one for a 83 though.

Take a look at rx7.org under the technical section. You will find the info in the FSMs located there.

I installed an Autometer fuel gauge when I did all of my gauges. You have to buy the sending unit that matches the gauge you by then modify it to mount to the fuel tank. I ended cutting a junk tank in half to check positioning of the sending unit. Gauge accuracy is reasonable, have much more fuel left on E than the stock unit. Not sure if it's worth the time and effort, but it fit my gauge changes.

Ohm ranges are in the FSM. I have yet to find an aftermarket gauge or sender that even come close to Mazdas, except perhaps the high end electronic ones.

thanks for the info everyone BTW...its a 83 rx. In the end i might not end up putting a fuel level guage in it as this is just a straight race car anyways, with the very occational trip to cruiser nights. (i'll probably end up running a fuel cell anyways)

If you want an aftermarket gauge, it can be done on the stock tank, easier with a fuel cell though.
