I've seen a few Rx's that are rusting from the back side of the doors. You can see it by rolling down the window and looking at the sheet metal just inside the window opening.

Anyone else seen this?

I've had the door panel off a few times, and have never noticed any rust. I do have the storage bin rust though.

Another problem area is the bottom inside of the doors. If you can find an 1st gen without any rust there you know its been fairly well kept for.

Look inside the track of the rear hatch, check where the drain holes are, make sure their not clogged up, with leaves or dirt cause that will cause water to sit there and rust those areas out, same with the drains in the sun roof tract. I had that nice supprise in my 83"

in california the only places to rust are around the drain holes for the rear hatch, and the actual sunroof panel
