afm into 82 rx7?
what would i need to put an air/fuel meter into my 82? it doesn't have an o2 sensor, so i would need to put one into the intake? i'm kinda clueless about this, and since i'm rebuilding my carb i think it would be a handy thing for tuning, plus the more gauges the better, right? someone please point me in the right direction, or tell me whether this is even worth it (cost-wise, i'm always broke)

I installed a AF meter into my `82.
The o2 sensor should be fitted in the exhaust. It is normally best to place it as close to the outlet port as possible.
(It has to be in the part where both the pipes have allready joined into a single pipe, otherwise 2 o2 sensors have to be fitted, with 2 seperate gauges)
It make live a breeze with tuning.
I would highly recommend it to anyone!

i mean putting in a gauge, it would need a sensor in the exhaust like karism said, would that come w/ the gauge (i saw an autometer one for 70 something, that doesn't include a sensor, does it??)

AFM = Air Flow Meter... Used on EFI cars...
A/F = Air/Fuel ratio..
You're gonna need a car that will take an O2 sensor... That means an exhaust manifold with a bung... GSL-SE already has this. for 12A, you need a header. (Good performance enhancement in the meantime.)
Because the Rotary runs rich, a wideband is reccomended... They cost quite a bit more than standard gauges and sensors, but if you have a soldering iron and some electronics experience, there's a DIY kit out there that doesn't cost much. (And has datalogging and output via RS-232)
