I don't plan on changing my hood, left front fender, or painting any of it for at least two years... I kinda like having a car that looks like crap on the outside, as long as it runs, I'm happy.

I'm planning on shooting my car flat black this fall. I've got some rust to fix before winter comes, and I don't have the coin for a proper paint job. So my buddy and I will fix the rust and then sand her down and shoot the whole car black. He's doing his 2nd gen Supra as well.

The most important thing is that the car runs well, and isn't deteriorating. I could care less about the color. Shoot, if I had the two grand needed for a paintjob, I'd sink that money into performance mods and still paint the car black.

The clear coat on the red paint had chips all over it. I hate red so I sanded it down and primered it flat black. I know I have to paint it but it's expensive. I don't see the paint when I'm inside the car anyways. At least it runs, and runs good.

That's how I feel.

Iotus,
I may be jacking the car up Tuesday to look at the starter and wiring, so I can probably take pics then. My new plug wires are set to arrive Tuesday also. I've just been so busy lately.

Yeah the red was sweet while it lasted. It looked pretty bad in person with the red paint. I hate red cars with a passion.

Well, If I thought that I could do a good job with the silver, I'd do it. Frankly I'm not completely decided about the black yet, but I do know that I need to fix the rust before the winter comes and makes it worse.

Maybe I'll go whole hog and get the Mazda silver, but I'm concerned about how it will look. I know what flat black will look like, but I don't know how I'd do at shooting my car with the factory color.

as long as we carefully mask it and use even application, it shouldn't matter what colour you use. Remember, even the factory silver will be somewhat flat without the clearcoat.

Then again you could just do the $300 paint job at Perfection Paint & Body or some chit

I'm not going to paint it any color right now(no cash). I'll probably wet sand it and smooth it out and take it off the road for the winter so I can store it. I'm not into flashy cars, I'm more into the performance aspect of it all. I can't be worrying about chips in paint and washing it every day. I like to drift it, so that's not beneficial to a nice paint job. When I do paint it, it will be the color of a charcoal grill. Decent black paint minus the gloss. That would suit me just fine. Remember...it's what's inside or under the hood that counts.

I still havn't found a quote from any decent shop to have mine painted for under $2500-$3000 (upward to $3500)
:-(

I s'pose there's nothin' wrong with flat black as long as you get around to sanding it *sometime*...

I would never pay $3,000 dollars for a paint job. Imagine what you could buy performance-wise with that money.

so did you paint the car with spray cans or what exactly did you do. What grain of paper did you use and how much did it cost for this flat black masterpiece of paint job. I think it looks rad.
