Which way do you turn the screw to richen the mixture? In or out??

Out to richen, In to lean

Turn it in, until it stumbles, then richen it out till you get a smooth idle, then tap the throttle a few times, and make sure the idle is still smooth.

she stumbles right now (took off rats nest and have yet to re-tune) so I want to get it back smooth.
