Question ACT or Centerforce, which should I get?

My stock clutch is slipping like a SOB, it has been since I did my mods (even though it was almost new) but now after a year and a half its getting worse, it cant even handle 4000RPM launches without the car staying still and stinking as it burns the disk. I know I'm gonna have to get a new one within a month or two so....

Which do you prefer ACT or Centerforce? or another brand?
Also how light can I go with the flywheel and remain streetable?

I am currently using a:
-12A rebuild w/9000mi
-45mmDCOEWeber
-RB Header, and straight through stainless steel exhaust system
-9mm wires & MSD Blaster SS coils
-and a NOS 50 Shot, as soon as the new clutch/flywheel goes in

Thanks for your help.

Well for a clutch I am using a Centerforce II and a Centerforce steel flywheel (14lbs) the flywheel hardly did anything for streetability, just gotta make sure you foots gently on the gas when your starting her or itll take a few cranks and you have to give her gas as your letting the clutch up in 1st but i got used to it in under a day... i could of even went with an aluminum i think but it was outa my price range. As for the clutch i havent beaten on it yet as I am still under the 500mile breakin period for the clutch and flywheel... but so far I LOVE IT pedal is not hard to push at all and is definately streetable, hell its easier to drive than some stock 5spds ive driven.

I wouldn't run an aluminum flywheel on the street.

I like the centerforce duelfriction 90% holding over stock but still has smooth engagement and not that pricy..

Using an alluminum flywheel isn't as bad as every likes to say it is. Actually, a lot of companies say their flywheels are much heavier than they actually are. My tuning shop says they'll order a 12 lb. flywheel and it ends up weighing 8 or 9 lbs.

Get a ACT HD pressure plate and a street disk. that combo is good for 300+hp and will be perfectly streetable. Look at what all the big hp guys run on the street in fd and stuff, they never run center force. IMO.

I have an ACT and aluminium flywheel in the turbo and love it. I have a CF2 in the SA and it's great too. It does need a lighter flywheel though. Both are good. I've heard of CF's getting an imbalance for the weights not staying put but I've never talked to anyone that's had it happen to them. I say pick either and you'll probably be really happy.

I'd go ACT as well. I did run a RB street/strip clutch and I liked that. I would definitely not use an aluminum flywheel on the street.

I've had bad luck as long as other friends with other cars with CF clutches. Rivets let go, and springs break. Fortunately, none of us had one explode. We all run ACT now.

Nothing but trouble with Centerforce.

My organic side shredded after 1-2 years on a mild 1st to 2nd shift. And failures arent just limited to a turbo engine,I had a friend that blew a puck off the engine side of the CF DF disc with a STOCK Civic D16.....thats about 100lbft of torque.
Do some searching, youll find many horror stories about the CF clutches.Yea,they are smooth, and yes they are easy to drive. But once you start working them, they let go easy.....

It sounds like the CF dual friction discs are troublesome.

I have used a Centerforce II disc and plate on my streetported 12a that was daily driver, autocrossed, and at least a year worth of track days. Not one failure.

MY REPU came with a CF II disc and plate, no owner of that truck ever had a failure. One of the weights did rattle bad, but no failure.

Same REPU now has another CF II disc and plate. Autocrossed it about 5 times last year with some hard launches. No probs so far.

Also has a RB 9.5lb aluminum flywheel on the REPU. No big deal driving it. Just slip the clutch a little more when starting from a stop. Drive REPU to work almost every day.

Centerforce always gets mixed reviews. I went with ACT, reasonable pricing and I've never heard anyone having any problems with them. My GSL has the SS disc/HD pressure plate, and Streetlite flywheel. Smooth operation and good bite.

I think my best testimonial would be this little video, chirping 3rd & 4th at 1/2 throttle, shifting at 5k after the break-in:

i had cf dul friction and it worked great for what they promised and a little more
i had the 90% for the t2 in my first gen and i dynoed 372 whp with no prob , that is over 100% overstock actually it took 5 or 6 runs at 450 whp before before it slipped , which is very understandable , now i have clutch master , no more slipping.
as for drivability cf was really great just like stock.
