Accelerator pump check ball- Help
For the life of me I can't get the accelerator pump check ball out. I've tried blasting it with carb cleaner, tapping on it with a finishing nail and it still won't fall out. Any suggestions?

The only time I've had one really stubborn, a few hard smacks with the back end of a screwdriver with the carb upside down got it out.
Had that not worked I'd probably have tried soaking it with a lubricant (liquid wrench or WD-40) for a bit and then smacking again. I'd guess they lubricate a bit better than carb cleaner does although the film between the ball and and where it sits might tend to kinda stick it there until the lube's washed/dripped out - not sure.
If that didn't work, I'd probably use the compressor (shoot air in through the holes behind the AP diaphragm) and worry about finding the ball later. Probably not the greatest idea but I tend to get frustrated easily.
Then again, there are others on this forum who I'm sure have better, tried tested and true ideas that just about always work :p
Good luck though

Had the same problem last rebuild.
Soaked it with penetrating oil overnight, then used a magnetized icepick to carefully unseat it by wiggling it, and it followed the icepick out slick as you please.
Tried everything up to and including pressurized air before that, but she was laquered in tight by dried gasoline goo.

I'll hit it with the liquid wrench oil overnight. I'm no longer in a huge rush to get it out as I just found out I have to order the banjo bolt screens from mazda.

It worked! squirted it with liquid wrench every 15 minutes and with a rag to shield it a few good whacks with a dead-blow hammer and it popped out. Thanks guys!
