Accelerator Problems??

Hey I finally got an ignitor and put it on. So im continuin to try and tune this carb as perfect as I can get it. the car is still having the same problem it had before i blew my ignitor. all of 1st and second gear is good. then when it gets to third aroudn 5000 or so rpm it acts like its flooded and kinda stalls. I know its not the ignition cause i put new wires/plugs. and i just did the 1cdn gen coil trick correct. so that leaves fuel. can someone post up some pics of the accelerator pump. and exactly where it should be adjusted. i can only figure that could be the only thing causing it beside fuel filter. it does it in 3rd and higher gears and its getttin annoying. also if someone could tell me where the fuel filter sits so i can replace that also tomm. thanks guys

i wouldn't touch the carb until you replaced the fuel filter. if you go messing up the settings on that carb and find out that's not it, you could end up worse off than you were. the fuel filter is located under the car in front of the gas tank on the drivers side just ahead of the rear wheel. it's held in place by a little wire clip thingie lol! you'll see it when you get under the car. easy thing to do, just dont wear anything nice as you will most likely get fuel on you.

not me, but the accelerator pump is on the drivers side of the carb, near the throttle linkage. it has a flat round surface extruding from a square base, all held in with four screws.. the lever that actuates it is threaded, adjustible and wrapped in a spring...
but it only work as you dump the throttle, if the bogging condition occurs while you're holding the pedal steady, then its not the accel pump... if the condition occurs when you depress the throttle, then it could be suspect.

personally, it sounds EXACTLY like a fuel delivery issue, and not the carbumajirator itself

Change your fuel filter. You have the exact symptoms of a dirty filter, and you won't get much help from these guys if you don't bother to listen to what they're telling you. It's a $3.00 part and some people have to change them out twice a year or more. Start there and see if you still have issues...

It is your fuel fitler I can garuntee it. My car did the same thing when the fuel filter was old.

You can locate the fuel fitler, if you jack teh rear end of the car up. Stick you head underneeth the car. There is small steel plate (6"X6") or so, that protects you fuel pump. Just before this you should see a little ube like thingy. That is the fuel filter. All you have to do is follow the fuel lines untill you see it. When you replace, make sure the tank is low on gas otherwise it pisses fuel all over the place as you replace the filter.

Keep a spare with you at all times, just like the plugs and maybe even fuel pump.

I didn't search for the answer to my question. Please have a little mercy on me.

If you're saying the fuel filter is a $3 part, why does the Mazda dealer charge over $40 for it?

The mazda dealer is aprick they always are... except the one whare I used to live... he would give me free parts *sigh*. Mazda parts are at least twice teh price as normal parts. Try Wallmart, or some other store to see if they have it for less.

Yeah but that's not twice as much. That's more than 10 times as much. What's up with that?

Maybe that's the price for the fuel injected model? The $3 price was for carbies only...

lol the book thing at the store, says they use the same one. posibly a differnt final number. They are labeled like 12-364576-6
so mybey the fuel injected have a 5 instead of a 6 or something ( this is a hypatheticle number)
