Which AC compressor?
Which AC compressor?
I need an AC belt for my '85. I don't know if my compressor is a nippondenso or lonestar, it says SANDEN and has SU-575 on the label as well. Does anyone know which belt I need?
Thanks!
Thanks!
if i were you, i would just rip out the A/C
Really.......why have it when you can just roll down the windows and take off the sunroof?????
Plus, that sh*t just weighs down the car
But, of course, that's just my $0.02

I think the previous owner(s) took off the belt. I'd like to have it working, since there's no sunroof and the windows are a bitch to roll up and down. Anyone know which belt?
Hey, can a hardtop be made into a convertible?

usually when the previous owner removes the belt usually means the a/c stopped working because all the R-12 ran out and was too cheap to put in a walmart R-134a kit. WHo would rip out a working A/c? depending on the climate you live in, would guide your decision. It doesn't drag the car down when its not in use. It takes some weight, but what is the aim of the car, comfort or slightly less weight and extra space under the hood? I should mention, I don't have my ac stuff in my FB. I do in my FC though, which is my comfort long distance runner.

Power Windows are standard on all 81-85 GSL's, and 84-85 GSL-SE's.
Some GS's had them as dealer installed options, or an owner did a transplant. (S's too)
But yeah, rolling down the window helps the No A/C condition.
2nd GEN A/C?
On the same topic...
My GSL-SE had awesome cold A/C when I first got it, and has slowly been cooling less and less. Yesterday the compressor wouldn't even turn on.
My guess is that I have a leak. I will likely take it to get serviced to find the leak. Is that easy to convert to R134?
Also, would a 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen A/C compressor work in a 1st Gen? I know the GSL-SE compressor is supposedly different from the other 7's. I am curious because I think I have the one from my Cosmo engine somewhere in the garage, and was thinking that it might provide better output.
I live in S. Florida, so running without an A/C is not worth the HP loss or weight savings in my book.
Any ideas?

my 85 has a 17440 belt, but a 17450 will work too, the walmart kit is about 30 bucks, comes with all u need to recharge the system, hook it to the fitting closest to the drivers side fender, on the compressor, the fitting that is taller, press on the compressor fittings and let out any stuff thats in it first,,,,good luck......
also u can remove the door panels grease all the moving parts and rails, stick u hand way up into the door and do it right, makes a big difference in its operation, no success stories about cutting a hole in your roof, so dont try it........unless there is a shop that will guarentee there work.......good luck
The compressors that I've seen are neither Nippondenso nor Lonestar. I think Mazdatrix made a mistake by supplying two different belts, but I may be wrong. I bought my A/C belt from Victoria British and I have the same compressor as you do. It went right on and works perfectly. They only sell one belt for the 84-85 Rx-7. It's a Beck-Arnley belt which is made in Germany - they make good quality parts. VB was also much cheaper that Mazdatrix for many things. Mind you, all this is just some info to help you out.

Hey, speaking of just ripping out the A/C, Can you remove all that crap safely? I don't want to remove a hose or something that is under all types of high *** pressure and then blow my garage up.
