God, I get so pissed just thinking about going through that with my car. Finding it like it was. I hope those mother ******* burn in hell, seriously. Im with Pele though, I would help you get it back. Ive got some buddies in the Army that would be more than willing for a "night recon" mission too. Ive got a pretty big 84 Toyota that I happen to know will drive up and over an mid 90s Volvo station wagon (funny story, but I KNOW it will do it, lol) that I would be more than willing to drive over a few of their personal cars... If only I was there

it doesn't look good.

I threatened litigation with the apt. complex, they said, "go ahead."

Why can't I just get my car back? I pay rent on time, I pay my bills on time, and we don't cause any ruckus at the apt. Why is this so difficult to let me have the ONE material possesssion actually WORTH something to me...

Man oh man...Let me tell you a story...

My friend has done the exact same thing. He lives in a apt complex and works on his GTi's day and night..i'm talking they are his LIFE! He comes home one day...after not working on the car for only 3 days, and he freaks out. He see's the car isn't there and runs straight up to the manager and says this..

Friend: I'm only going to say this once...where the **** is my car?
Man: I called the towing company because I've already told you that you can't work on that car there. You make a mess and I won't stand for it any longer
Friend: But you already SAID that you'd let me work on it without any problems!!!
Man: Look...i'm sorry, but I changed my mind....
Friend :*Cuts him off* CHANGED YOUR MIND!?! You didn't even TELL ME that you wanted that. And you towed my car without asking me!
Man: I don't have time for this *slams door in front of my friend*

So..my friend calls the towing company after getting the information from that stupid old man landlord and calls. They say that they're charing him around 300 bucks because of how long he's had the car there. He shouts over the phone that he's not giving more than 120 because the notice that his car was towed away on, was recieved in the mail 3 days later (They use that gay trick in order to make you pay more) So he goes to the court, sues the towing company...what happens? He wins.

The judge says that the towing company is supposed to call right away and tell the person that his car has been towed. In the records of the tow company (that my friend personally drove down to[with my help since I gave him the ride] and got a print out of the outgoing calls that day, had no number associated with him) he also showed the stamped date on the letter to him. When the judge read through this, he bailed out his car @ $0 dollars, AND got a 300 sue from the towing company. Not much money...but he got his car back and an extra 300 bucks. Not bad, ey?

I'm still VERY sorry to hear this. I park my car in the garage...at my home. I wish you had a home to park yours. I hope you get yours back...don't let ANYONE **** you over..especially your car. They don't know how special something is until something of THEIRS is taken away.

Good luck, buddy.

Why do you have to wait 9 days to get it back? Why did you not go get it the day they took it? this is the Second time this has happened to you? maybe a car cover will keep anyone from careing about the car being broke. after 5 motors I think you need to have a good one built.

man read this make me even more **** at those *******. Sue these *******... First of all you gave ample notice to the apartment complex that you would be working on your car at the time . The towing company keeps your car in their possesion that makes them responsible for them . Save the tow money and Sue the **** out of them ... There are alot of dirty lawyers out there . It is time to make good use of them ....

Just got done at the tow yard, and apparently, my tags expired Oct. 31st. So therefore, amongst all of the other cars in the lot that haven't moved in months (some even YEARS), my car is towed. From what I could see, all four wheels were still on it...

687 dollars is what the car stands at right now.... by friday, I'm looking at over 800.

I need some help, y'all!

WHAT THE **** AM I GOING TO DO????

I would definately think the apartment complex would have some legal liability. At the very least there is a verbal contract standing.

storage fees is where the tow companies make their money.

I would say do whatever you have to and get some money to get your car out of there. Some towing companies (the one I work next to does this) will close early on friday and not open until late monday morning so they can get weekend storage fees a lot easier. They do the same thing on hollidays too, this week they are closing down on wednesday so they can get all that much more money.

Tell the tow company to settle! Tell them the car has no motor so even if they try to sell it at action latter they will get $100 for it. Either they will give you the car back at a smaller amount or your screwed. If they keep it they will not get much, so try to bargain with them.

Hey, this is Bryan (fellow that stopped with ryan in the dakota when you got lost a tire).

I hope everything works out. It sucks that they didn't back down when you threatened to get a lawyer. A certified letter from an attorney may help.

At this point it looks like you need to get it out as soon as possible and try and get reimburement afterwards.

Good luck man. Let me know if you need any help.

Stake it out... Lemmie know if they've got dogs, a guy watching the place, anything... How good's their fence?

I'll come down Saturday night and we can ram down their fence and tow your 7 somewhere safe. No joke. If it's unguarded for 30 mins, we'll get it out...

Sooner if you know someone with a trailer...

Cool... The plan is:

1.) Get trailer
2.) Goto storage lot
3.) Detatch trailer
4.) Add 2nd enterance to storage lot... Tools required: Truck.
5.) Reattach trailer
6.) push car onto trailer
7.) Leave promptly...

Anyone think 30 mins is too short for that?

WestJax, will the trailer fit a Class 2 hitch? I think that's what my bumper is rated for.

Don't plan this on a public board, and it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes depending on where the car is in the lot.

But for God's sake don't use an Rx-7 with a trailer hitch to pull the trailer ...or you'll wind up with two Rex's down for the count.

Not sure what a class 2 hitch is. My old truck had a regular 2 1/4 in ball hitch on it that I hooked it up to. Hope that helps.

Get a lawyer and go there.

I have seen similar stories on other forums.

Just the presense of the lawyer makes these ******** at towing companies freak out, and they will present you with your vehicle immediately to avoid any possible damages which result in higher lawsuits against them later.

Then, take it to court with the vehicle safe in someone's garage or storage.

You'd be surprised on how quick a judge will basically tell the towing company that their "rules" are BS.

a steak marinated in anti-freeze takes care of a gaurd dog.
check for security cameras.
with 4 people this should only take 5 minutes, but use a second truck for fence renovations. leave the trailer hooked up to the first.
average police response is 7~8 minutes.
if they have cameras knock there power out first. bring a good chain to throw over the power lines to short out power. this will blow the power company's fuse at the transformer.
