85 rx7 GS Gas cap button broke

85 rx7 GS Gas cap button broke

So i pulled up to the pumps today and my gas cap opener button came right out. Anyone have a manual fix for this problem. **** i need gas.. hahahah

Sounds like the switch is broken. There are two wires plugged into the switch. Connecting the two wires for a second will open the door. There is also a metal tab connected to the release mechanism on the door itself. Reach down behind the edge of the rear vertical carpet where it meets the rear left panel. You should be able to feel the tab on the top of the latch. Slide it towards the rear and the door should open.

Thanks man i'll get it a try tomorrow. I think i would have to take the whole dash apart to get at those wires.

then find a gas door from an 81- 83 they also have a manual lock that any Mazda key will open
