'85 pseudo-frame off restore
So I got an '85 RX7, (pictures to follow), and I am thinking "how hard would it be to make this a right hand drive" I did some searching online and couldn't really find anything. Am I on a fools errand?

It wouls certainly have to be a labor of LOVE - since it wouldn't ever recover your cost (let alone time). Assuming you could find all the parts - likely overseas - I would shudder to think what the shipping costs would be, never mind the cost of the bits themselves
off the top of my head you'd need:
-dash assy complete (which includes the frame underneath)
-the steering assy/box
-pedal assys
-brakelines, assuming the brake booster/master just swaps (don't count on it)
-dash harness, assuming it would interface with existing harness
-wipers are reversed to LHD set-up - actually uses separate body components to mount (sheetmetal mostly) - I'd just use the LHD pieces
- then there are likely oodles of little hardware bits the conversion would need to make these work properly that you would NOT likely get with the parts and wouldn't even know you needed till your car was gutted and you are trying to figure out
-The Good News is likely a lot of the mounting points and necessary holes may already be there, shared by both bodies.
It might be cheaper to find a RHD chassis here - one just sold on ebay in rough shape for $3200 - and start from there. Best source for parts will be Britain - at least you are speaking the right language The market for RX7s there is small and clean cars are selling quite cheap so lots of opportunities to find someone parting one out.

It's all in what you want. Anything can be accomplished if you willing to put the time in it and have the capital.
I have my own dream of making a all wheel drive RX-7. It has been done before.
I just have to wait until I am set up with a decent working place and find a stripped donor car to work with. Then the fun begins. :-)

Just import one from Japan. Pain in the rear but much easier than converting one. Prices are reasoable excluding transportation costs.

When you do, remember ot swap out the headlights for LHD units or your beam pattern will be all wrong for oncoming drivers. Nevermind you'll have a hell of a time turning left at busy intersections, since you'll be sitting on the wrong side for the side of the road you're driving on, but that's the price you pay for mad tyte JDM, yo!

If the cost of importing a RHD is too much for you, forget about a conversion.
It'll most likely cost more than purchasing a 1st gen from overseas. Given the relatively low value of much newer cars, a 1st gen should be pretty darn cheap to get.
