85 ,how do i find out the model

i searched but didnt know exacty what to search for .....
that being said, i just bought an 85 and there are no emblems on it , it has a 13b carberated engine and im told that setup isnt stock, it is a nikki 4 barrel. now my real question- can i find out what model it is with the vin # . if not what other things can i look for on the car ? it has a sunroof and power windows if that helps.

Well, there were two engines in '85, a carbureted 4 port 12A (which this isn't) and a fuel injected 6 port 13B (which this isn't).

You can tell which engine it had from the factory by the VIN. The 8th digit will be a 1 if it had a 12A and a 2 if it had a 13B.

If it originally had a 13B, it is a GSL-SE. If it originally had a 12A, then it's most likely a GSL due to the power windows. You can't really tell though because who knows what has been done to the car by previous owners. For example, if it has solid rear discs then it has a GSL axle, if it has vented rear discs then it has a GSL-SE axle, but people swap these into GS and S models all the time.
