85 gsl-se Side mount alternator belt
Hello, posting here for my dad since he is not a man of asking for help.
The alternator belt snapped a few weeks ago. We replaced it with the same size belt that was on it before, xl 25-7370, we were just mm's away from getting it on but the alternator wouldn't adjust anymore so we went to xl 25-7375. we got it on with tiny bit of struggle but this belt was too big. The bracket looks like it has more room to adjust but stops beyond a certain point. Is there anything we are missing?

I'm guessing, since you posted that this is a side mount alternator, that it is located where the AC/PS would be. If this is the case, can you post a pic. Since side mount alternators are not factory, it's hard to say what will work or not without more information.
The best bet for this setup would be to tighten the alternator at about the 1/2 point and then use a string to determine how long of a belt you need by raping it around the pulleys. Take this measurement to your local auto parts store and ask them if you can go through their belt section in the back.
