I think there is some confusion here. Gregs is referring to the sub-zero reservoir and I think that riceburner is referring to the cold start idle up. There isn't really a cold start assist besides what Gregs is talking about. There is a wax pellet/cam system on the dynamic chamber on the side closest to the firewall. You will see two small coolant lines running into this area. The purpose of this system is to keep the idle raised while the engine warms up. Once up to temperature, the wax pellet disengages the cam, and the idle returns to normal. This system also includes the closing of the outer secondary plates to act as a "choke".

Riceburner: You should download the FSM and refer to section 4B. It will tell you how to check and test the cold start and other various systems. You can download it at:

Hope this helps.

The files are really big, so that may be your problem. That one section that I am talking about is 15 megs by itself. I have them all downloaded, but I am not sure how I could get them to you. Do you have an FTP setup or something? I know that it is likely to large for me to email it to you. You can pm me and we can try to figure out a way to get the files to you.

Right click and save as, rather than trying to open it.
