85 gsl-se ADD COOLANT madness

85 gsl-se... Coolant is fine, but it beeps like mad and the "ADD COOLANT" light comes on while driving. It's not overheating and coolant level is fine. Today I flushed it and refilled as per FSM.

Started doing this after it was up for a while last season drained of coolant. The FSM doesn't mention any coolant level sensor that I've seen.

It's transient while driving, it'll come on for a bit then turns off. Could this be a water pump issue??? HELP!

coolant level sensor on top of the radiator is faulty, or the wiring to it is

to test this, try grounding the wire that goes to it.

I rechecked the FSM and it DOES mention the coolant level sensor but only in 1 spot, on page 3-6 of the FSM . It includes a graphic showing it's location.

Showing it is location? Sorry, just razzing yah.

Hey if you don't like the noise, you can disconnect the little electrical box thing in front of the battery. It looks like a relay. It is called the oscilator. Maybe the fsm mentions it.

and disconnect the oil pressure warning light (just razzing man)

.........like the used car dealer did on the ford galaxy 500 which was my brother's first car, turned out it had a bent rod. The dealer sold it as is, and it was a fisherman's special.

for kicks, my brother ended up dismantling the whole car. I mean everything. As a result, he learned a hell of allot about cars.

That sensor can be very sensitive, I've run into this with my own car. Make sure that the overflow tank is properly filled, so the radiator can draw fluid in as needed. That took care of mine.

Good luck.
