Would this be as easy as finding a 12A manual tranny and swapping it in and changing the ECU?

 

I would think not. Swapping from auto to manual from what I have been told is more expense than it is worth. To do it on my Saturn would have run me $2500. Way to much!

 

Its actually not too bad, there are a lot of parts you have to find. Do a search on the forum, theres lots of threads about it.

 

I have a manual transmission driveshaft, which I'm told you will need. Let me know if you need it..

 

heheheh, well 84-85 auto - manual tranny conversions are REAL fun!

The problem is the 84-85 auto tranny was a 4 speed tranny unlike the 3 speed ones of the 79-83. THe 4 speed tranny required that the tranny mointing spots ont he chassis be moved 4 inches farther back. Shitty deal huh? Your going to have to make an adapter bracket.

My advice? Ive done the swap. And honestly, if you havent modded this car at all or have much invested into it, sell it and buy a 5spd car to start with.
