85 12a Rats nest removal
Hi,
I was wondering , if you remove the rats nest on an 85 gs with the 12a, you plug off all the vacuum lines from the spacer plate, and remove the nest with all solenoids still attatched. But do you have to connect the vacuum advance upto any vacuum source, or do I just have to reset the timing so you don't need the vacuum advance. If anybody can help me, it would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still trying to get my car running correctly.
Thanks,
Steve

Disconnect the vacuum advance, you can leave the timing the same (vac adv only functions when you aren't on the throttle, it's an emissions feature not a performance feature).
BTW, do not plug the vac inlets on the dizzy, leave them open to the air!

I have no hoses what so ever connected to my air canister. I took all that crap off, not knowing what most of it was. But I knew that I did not need any of it.
