85 12A can't get engine to idle

I have an '85 12A with the Nikki carb. Couldnt get it running, and realized it may be flooded. I pulled the plugs and cleaned them up and cranked a few times to clear out excess fuel. Once I did this, the car started fine and I was able to pull the choke cable to high idle. Once it warmed up, the choke solenoid pulled off the choke normally, but the engine wont idle. I have to pump the accelerator twice and it will start one warmed up. I can feather the throttle above 1000 rpm to keep the engine running but it stumbles and misses. Any thoughts on whats happening? Should i change plugs and wires? Is the carb sticking?

was the car idling and driving fine before the flooding incident?

did you make any adjustments to the carb while trying to get it right?

I didnt make any adjustments yet. I couldnt get the engine to idle less that 1000 to make any adjustments. The engine is very difficult to feather the throttle to keep running at 1000. It was running "ok" before this incident, not great, but it was idling fine. But this was about 6 months ago. I drained the tank and put in fresh gas and check inlet hose at the carb to make sure gas supply was ok. I could see the float window on the front and its about 1/2 or below, so the float looks ok. When the engine is at high idle, I can see the gas flowing at the venturis.

did you put a new filter after you drained the tank? if not, try that and see if it helps.

maybe see if turning the idle speed screw makes a difference. don't touch the mixture yet. just see if the speed screw affects it.

This looks like a vacuum leak demon dream. Are there any obvious spots I can check for vacuum leaks?

Get some starting fluid and start spraying around the carb...... Spray the little hoses...... Probably you'll get lucky and find a leak ....

Good luck.....
