84 rx7 hard start cold and hot

I have a 84 rx7 new rebuilt motor from atkins rotary with 650 hooley carb. problem is it hard to start when cold and when hot and ran for short distance. I ran car at 35 milesand hour for 1.4 mile and pulled plugs plugs look good. I have to pump it alot to start it when cold then compression goes real high (due to flooding) and car turns over slow then it kicks it. Timming is been chk help

Coolant temp sensor is on the backside of the water pump housing. It holds the choke **** out when cold, allows it to retract when warm. Why do you guys keep buying Holleys that are too big for your porting?

tuns over slow = weak battery.
