84 rx-7 shaking while driving

84-gsl
My brother has this car and I judt drove it to my garage so we can fix problems with an oil leak. While I was driving it home I noticed that the car shaked a lot while driving at all rpm ranges But at idle the car is very smooth. Is this a problem with engine mounts or all of the mounts in the car? I did notice that the car needed oil. The oil light came on everytime I hit the brakes. The brakes need to be done too so some of the shaking could be coming from that. Also the gas pedal is very stiff. Is this how these cars are with the gas pedal or can that be adjusted? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

vibrations could be from old / worn/ out of balance tires or a driveshaft (u-joints need changing).

My gas pedal isn't to stiff, you can try playing with the trottle cable.

Rx7's of that year have 2 engine mounts at the front of the motor. and a tranny mount underneath. I'm sure they are fine.

brakes play a big role too... my brothers HONDA CIVIC had a brake problem and it would vibrate at around 45 mph... i think it was an alignment problem or something

yeah - if you're shaking, I'd look somewhere other than the motor mounts. Wheel mis-alignment or being out of balance will shake your car more violently than many other problems.

Vibration under acceleration and deceleration is often the tranny mount. Also look for a bent, chipped wheel.

Good luck
