84 RX-7 running problem

Hello,
I very recently purchased a 84 (I think GS) RX-7 to replace my old 80 RX-7 that I let go in 2000.
It has started and ran everytime since I looked at it and after I bought it. Yesterday it started, then stalled, but I was on a hill, so I just tried roll starting it, no luck with that. I had driven it for probably 15-20 miles and started it 6-8 times doing some errands ealier in the day.

I don't remember my other RX ever doing something like this, unless it was the battery (which it isn't, because it wouldn't start with a roll or when I tried to jump it later).

It currently turns over, but just will not start. This car had been sitting for a while, but unless I've fouled all the plugs, or sucked in bad gas sitting on the bottom of the good gas I just put in it, I'm at a loss.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you have flooded it. Now go outside before it gets too dark and do these steps.

#1 take out the little green fuse link that reads EGI Its on the front drivers side
#2 take out the 2 bottom spark plugs
#3 now turn your motor over for about 6-7 secs
#4 clean your 2 plugs that you have taken out and replace them
#5 put your fuse link back in.

Let me know what happens. YOu may have to repeat this agian so dont worry if it does not work the first time.

I had to go to work today, so I might not be doing this until tomorrow, but thanks.

I thought I had flooded after I had tried starting it for a little while, but with my old 80, I would just leave it sit for 5-30 minutes and then it would just crank right back up.

I was confused because it started and then would not run even when roll starting, but I never owned an 84 before. It still has a carb, so I figured I would just do what I used to do.

Oh i did not see wher ya tried to roll start too. Hmmmmmm, that is interesting, check all your electrical grounds too, because usually when a car is flooded it will still roll start, but then again you might have flooded it pretty good.

It's not a GSL-SE 91verty, so it doesn't have EGI. First, pull the plugs out, and clean them. Then keep them out, pull the fuel pump fuse out and crank the engine for about 8 seconds. Then install the plugs back in and put the fuel pump fuse back in. Then it should work. Good luck. Welcome to the club.
