84 rear 85 and ??

ok we are up[ a creek. we have a 79 with se under it. the rear end was trashed so what we did was go to a yard and get a "84 -se rear end" well it was a 81 gsl smaller axel 4x110 rear. now the ? cant we get a 84-85 gsl rearend and put in the gsl-se axels and brakes on it? wont the large axels go right in to a gsl of 85? please let us know ASAP we need to go get the rearend today.

All 84 and 85s are the same.

The 84 and 85 Rx7s have the large axles. The GS, GSL, and SE all have the same spline size. If you want to get really tricky, get a Torsen rear end out of a 94 to 97 Miata (with a stick and power windows). This will fit, will give you the BEST limited slip and a lower gear ration than an Rx7.

Good luck
