84 gsl smoking

I know that the car has an oil leak but I thought that it was the oil pan or as someone sudgested the oil cooler lines. I noticed that when my brother turned on the car yesterday afterneeon in my garage white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. It goes away after 5 minutes. I don't think it smokes while driving but I guess it could also do that . The car has been sitting for a week or two. Does this mean that the oil problem could be more than just the oil pan? I have not checked the car yet but know I will have time to look at it.

White smoke usually means coolant seals in the engine are leaking. Happened to me. How does it run when you first start it, hard to start?

Yeah it is hard to start at first. Once you start it and run
for about three minutes it smoths out. I have to put the choke on it at first.

i have a busted coolant seal in my front rotor. its a bit cold blooded..requires choke if the engine is cold, and a good bit of time before it starts running well. i think what happens is the coolant fouls the plug for a bit..and keeps it from running correctly until it gets warm, then the engine hums right along. make sure you check your radiator..if you dont keep an eye on it, you'll burn up all your coolant if it is a busted coolant seal, i recomend a rebuild

ive had hte prob u guys are referring to. except mines done it twice and that was when i moved the car like 5 feet and shut it right back off. It was real hard yto start and i had to do the unthinkable action of pressing down the accelerator on fuel injected car to get it to start, once started it smoked like mad for about 5 mins but then cleared up, and hasnt done it since except when i move it but a few feet

After letting it sit overnight, pull the main engine fuse (or the fuel pump connector) and crank it several seconds. Pull the plugs..if they're wet and it's not gas, it's coolant. Also, you'll probably notice that there's pressure in the radiator even when cold.
Sure sign time for rebuild.

Sure thing.

Atins rotary
http://www.atkinsrotary.com

has some of the best prices I found for the rebuild kit. Start with springs, soft and hard seals/gaskets and if after dismantling your engine you need apex seals, etc - then buy them.

Also, know that rebuilding a rotary isn't the simplest thing in the world

I get white smoke out of my exhaust almost each time i start it, too (84 GSL SE). And it also stops doing it after a minute or two. However, my coolant level has remained constant for months so I doubt that it's leaking out. Could it be anything else??
