I just unplugged my relay and installed the jumper to the plug, the dead relay is still hanging.

If you bypass said relay, the fuel pump will continue to run, pumping fuel all over the place.

I agree that bypassing the relay will disable the ability for the pump to shut off when the engine stops, which might be a safety concern. But really, it wouldn't be all that hard to replace the relay with just about anything else, use the same input to trigger the relay, and keep the features intact...
