84 - 83 engine wiring question

I am working on an swap. will a 84/85 12a electrical plug directly into the harness for an 83 system? or will I need to convert the 83 engine harness (solenoids and such) to the 84 engine. This is stock for stock, and I plan on keeping it as stock looking as possible. Once again this is only for the harness that is mounted on the engine.

Side note, but related. are all FB carbs interchangeable Electronics and crap all work together. I believe th SA's are very different and I am not working within that model.

Thanks a lot!

Why not use all the 83 stuff and not worry about yearly changes? I know there are at least 3 variations of the carb. I had 79, 83 and 85 carbs in the shop one day, sitting side by side and there are variations between all of them.

The main difference between the wiring in the '83 and '84 is that on the '84 half the stuff comes through the passenger's side firewall and half of it is on the driver's side harness.

On the '83, *everything* comes on the driver's side harness.

Leave the wiring harness in the car that you're using, the connectors are all the same. It's easier that way.

So swap the engine etc... from the 84, but leave the '83 wiring harness in place.
