83 headlight switch.

hi all i have a 83 rx7 and im having a bit of trouble with it.. when i turn my lights on the lights go up, but the light doesnt but the regulaur headlights dont come on.. this is a issue ive had for the past 2 months, ive had the car for about 5 years, about 2 months ago, i would have to move my headlight switch/turning signal, to high beam low beam high beam low beam, and sometimes the low beam would just turn on and stay on.. but now it stopped all together, so now at night time, i have to drive holding my highbeam lights cause the position u put it in to to stay doesnt work it only works when ur pulling it back towards u as the flasher light.. i took it to a shop and they told me it might be the switch, that its putting the lights up just not turning them on.. wondering if this sounds familiar or anything to anyone?
