I am getting ready to pull the engine in my 83, and start the hunt for a new one. Will 1rst gen engine fit? What about an engine from a second gen?

 

Yes, they will both fit. How did your engine seize? Is it carbon locked? If so, you may be able to fix it with the ATF trick.

 

The 2nd gen engine won't bolt straight in. You'll need to change the sump and front cover as well as modify the engine bracket and crossmember.

 

I just bought the car for 200.00 with the engine seized. I am going to try the ATF trick first to see what happens. Should I put the ATF in the spark plug holes as well as the intake? Will this be enough to unseize the engine or is there a better way?

 

There's no trick. Just put some tranny fluid into every orifice you can find (intake/spark plug holes/exhaust ports if possible) and let it sit for a few days to a week, then try to turn it. If it doesn't turn, dump a lil' more in the intake and wait another few days to a week.
