82 for sale or trade.
I recently acquired a 1982 Rx7 that had been sitting for about a year or so. I have managed to get it to run, but it still runs a little rough. I think it needs the old gas drained, new plugs, and TLC. I bought a new battery, which I will include. I know it needs brakes and exhaust work. Asking $500 will trade for something I can work on (american cars or truck) or a motorcycle. The car is located in North central Indiana. Please email me at rkweese@hotmail.com if interested.

When the body is that far gone it's not worth putting money into. Best to part it out.
If the engine compression checks out good you could get $500 for that alone. But leave it in the car until sold so that the buyer can see it running.
If the car has rear disc brakes (which would mean you have a limited-slip differential) you could sell the entire rear diff and axle/ brake assembly for another $200+. If drum brakes it's worth $100.
The transmission (if good) is worth $150+. The oil cooler on the '79 to 82 1st gens (located under the rad) is a sought-after item. Count on a couple benjies for that, as well as another $100 for the rad if it's in good shape. All other components can go for $10 and up.
So if you're willing to get your hands dirty you can double your initial investment.

There is some kind of clear plastic cover that is broke on the rear left turnlight. As for parting it out, I need something that I can drive now, or that I can work on. This thing needs some TLC from someone who cares about this kind of car. I think it would be a blast to drive, but with 5 kids and the economy what it is, I can't put any cash into it and I am not the type to tear it apart and piece it out. I would really like to have a motorcycle, not real choosie about what kind, size, etc...

Dude, I feel for you, but it is all or nothing. I don't want t sell pieces of it then have the poor person that buys it to drive have to do even more to it.
