82 motor oil leak VERY odd

ok this is a 82 12a..... in a rx2 its got a very odd oil leak. its from the front cover...... the bolt under the waterpump next to the distributor. i tightened it 3 times and its still leaking... so i removed the bolt ... after about 45 sec it slowly leaks oil. what could be the prob.? i didnt think that was a oil pasage... its a 2-2.5" long bolt with a 12mm head.

Nope, but the front cover is full of oil .. I bet theres a crack in the front cover around that bolt hole. Hate to break it to you, but you need a new front cover...

Sure its not from behind the pulley?

Anyways, ive had to change front covers before it realy really sucks!

Oh and I have a 82 12A front cover ... Its the one with the 2 studs and 2 threaded bolts for the motor mount...

In speaking of oil leaks....I ran my engine today Mike with the rear rotor I bought from ya. Runs great and revs smooth as can be. But is choppy at idle, wonder if that has anything to do with the fact its a bridgeport, ha ha. Anyway, I'm sure you are glad to hear that it is working for me. It DOES rev very SMOOTH though.

After running it some and driving around town a bit, it clearly has a rear main oil seal leak!!! ARG!!!! AGAIN?!!! I had to replace that seal in april, but didn't this time, since the one on the used stationary gear there looked and seemed ok. Anyway, the tranny removal/flywheel will be another day under the car when I get the seal. (Sigh)

Other then that though, I plan to drive some anyway, since I don't care that it leaks oil as long as it doesn't run out or all over the driveway, I'll park on the grass.
