I just put a used 12a engine into my 82 rx7. The engine is turning over fine and everything but when i turn the key to the on position the fuel pump turns on and it wont turn off. It just keeps puting gas into the carb and the carb floods. Is there a sensor for the fuel pump so that it will turn off that i may have missed connnecting or anything like that? Thanks for the help

 

On these cars the pump is always on, Your problem is the float needle in the Carb is stuck, sometimes you can tap the top and get it unstuck.

 

Also there is a solenoid that will cut the fuel to the carb. Its under the fuel lines going into the carb. If it sticks open, fuel may be forced into the carb when the fuel is pressurized in the tank when its warm out. Make sure that is closing all the way when the engine is off.

 

sounds like you need a carb rebuild. You should talk to sterling

 

Its all good now. The carb wasn't any good but i took the one off the old engine and the car runs fine now. Thanks for all the help
